DAY 1 LUANG PRABANG
Arrival in Luang Prabang. Here you are welcomed by a representative of our Laotian partner agency, followed by transfer to the hotel. Some time at leisure in this picturesque former royal town on the banks of the Mekong River. In the evening take the chance for a stroll over the colorful night market. Spend the night in Luang Prabang.
DAY 2 LUANG PRABANG B
After breakfast enjoy a scenic boat trip upriver to Pak Ou, where the Ou River meets the mighty Mekong. Have a look to the holy Thum Ting caves with it's many Buddha images. Then continue on the road to the picturesque Kuangsi waterfall (chance to take a bath). On route take a brief stop at a Hmong hill tribe village. Return and tour the town (an UNESCO world heritage site). Here visit the former king palace, which is today's national museum. Then go on to see some of the many ancient temples. Spend another night in Luang Prabang.
DAY 3 LUANG PRABANG - VANGVIENG B
In the morning start for a tour through some impressive mountain wilderness to Vangvieng. On route you will pass many remote villages (in most of them Hmong- and Khmu hill tribe people do live) and also stop at some of them. In the late afternoon finally you will arrive in Vangvieng, the small town on the banks of the Song River with its picturesque limestone cliffs to the west. Time to relax at the river and enjoy the scenery. Overnight in Vangvieng.
DAY 4 VANGVIENG - VIENTIANE B
After breakfast is some time left to observe the daily life along the river. Later take a short stroll in the small village incl. a visit to the local market. Then leave the small town and drive to Vientiane. After lunch take a sightseeing tour in the Laotian capital, which includes all major sights, such as the That Luang Stupa, Pratu Xai and Wat Si Saket. Finally chance for a walk over the central market, where you might find your souvenir from Laos. Spend the night in Vientiane.
DAY 5 VIENTIANE B
Transfer to the airport or the Lao/Thai border (Friendship Bridge near Nong Khai)...but also transfer all the way to Udon Thani (Thailand) is possible, depends on your further schedule.
REMARKS/FLEXIBILITY:
- Visa for Laos available on arrival in Luang Prabang against a fee of US$ 40.- (bring passport pictures with you!).
- This tour can also be done vice versa with start in Vientiane and end in Luang Prabang.
- On day 3 instead to travel on the road through the mountains to Vangvieng it is possible to take the new Chinese high speed train/li>
- Additional nights in Luang Prabang and/or Vientiane can be booked with us.
