DAY 1 BANGKOK - PHITSANULOK - SUKHOTHAI
Transfer yourself to Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Station in Bangkok. Take a train ride (it takes approx. 5 hrs. and incl. a snack) from Bangkok to Phitsanulok. Here you are welcomed by our tour guide and driver. First you visit Wat Mahatat on the banks of the Nan River with its all over Thailand famous Buddha statue. If you wish to do so and time does allow, then a visit to the folk- and cultural museum, as well as at a Buddha factory can be arranged. Then it is time to drive for a bit more than one hour until you will reach the neighboring province of Sukhothai, Thailand's former and first capital. The kingdom existed from 1238 until 1438. All its ruins and temples have been designated as an UNESCO World Heritage Historical Park. Spend the night in Sukhothai, close to the Historical Park.
DAY 2 SUKHOTHAI - CHIANG MAI B/L
After breakfast explore Sukhothai's Historical Park with its numerous ruins, ancient temples and monuments. Travel on along rice- and tobacco fields to Si Satchanalai, which used to be the second royal residence of the Ramkamhaeng Kingdom. Here take a look at more sights. After lunch continue your journey, passing some rural areas until you reach Lampang. Here visit the Burmese style temple Wat Sri Chum and taste some exotic fruits at the nearby fruit market. On route to Chiang Mai opportunity for another brief stop at the Thai Elephant Conservation Center & Hospital. Arrive the northern capital by early evening. Transfer to your booked hotel. End of service.
REMARKS/FLEXIBILITY:
- Instead travelling by train it is possible to fly the distance from Bangkok to Phitsanulok, resp. direct to Sukhothai. If you wish to do so, please let us know at the time of booking.
- This package is also available v. v. with start in Chiang Mai and end in Bangkok. In this case the tour would finish with the train ride from Phitsanulok to Bangkok and arrival there in the evening.
- Accommodation in Chiang Mai after, resp. before this package can be booked with us as well.
