DAY 1 BANGKOK - KHAO YAI
You are picked up by your tour guide from the hotel in Bangkok at time 08.30. Drive for approx. 3 hours to the northeast until you reach Khao Yai National Park around noon and check in at the tented resort. You got some time to relax or some first discoveries around the resort. Afterwards visit a cave temple, which is used by Buddhist monks for meditation. After another brief stop at the scenic temple of Wat Kao Song Pian watch the spectacle when thousands of bats flying out of the cave forming a snake like stream in the sky and looking for a meal. Then return to the resort for overnight.
DAY 2 KHAO YAI B/L
After an early breakfast start to explore Khao Yai National Park with a short hike in the evergreen forest. Khao Yai is one of the oldest national parks of the country and it does shelter 120 different mammal species, such as elephants, gibbons, red deer, civet cats, macaques, mongooses etc. Also the vegetation is very impressing as the park is covered by rain and cloud forest. It is a natural habitat of more than 2500 different trees, flowers and other exotic plants. Later drive through the fascinating jungle settings to see Haew Suwat Waterfall. Have your lunch break near the waterfall. Afterwards drive up to Khao Khiau, the second highest spot of the park and enjoy a superb view from the Pha Diau Dai lookout point over the mountain jungle. Later in the early evening start a short exciting night safari with a pick up truck and head to some salt lick stones, where elephants are seen quite often. Then head back to the tented resort and spend another night here.
DAY 3 KHAO YAI - BANGKOK B
After your breakfast at around time 09.00 leave the resort and drive to the local fresh market of Pak Chong. Take a stroll over the colorful bustling market. You got the chance to taste some of the exotic fruits. Next stop will be at a impressive ancient sandstone labyrinth with rock paintings more than 2000 years old. On top of bizarrely formed rocks see some old fig trees with hundreds of lianes hanging down from it. Further up the mountain a worth-seeing footprint of Buddha can be seen as well. Inside the temple complex nearby find some impressive Chinese statues and more exotic plants. Then it is time for your return to Bangkok and you will arrive there in the late afternoon. Transfer to the booked hotel or airport, depends on your further schedule.
