Chiang Dao Hill Tribe Trek #CNX-914
This one day trekking tour in the hills east of Chiang Dao (located approx. 80 km to the north of downtown Chiang Mai) got the focus on some villages of ethnic minority people, like Palong, Akha Lisu and Karen, which can be reached on short treks.
Available as a private tour, minimum 2 persons, daily from/to Chiang Mai
Our local tour guide and driver will pick you up from the hotel in Chiang Mai at time 08.00.
Drive by local pick up truck for a bit more than one hour to the north. On route stop at the busy countryside market in Mae Malai to observe local people trading and selling all kind of goods, mostly fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers etc. You can also taste some exotic snacks!
Later start trekking for one hour to the Lahu hill tribe village of Baan Pang Tong and then another 2 hours walk bring you to the Karen hill tribe village of Baan Phalai. Here you will get your lunch box. Time to relax and take a stroll in the village.
Then it is a short 20 min. trek to a small Lisu hill tribe village and from there another 15 min. to an Akha hill tribe village. At both places you will have time to walk around and get an impression of the simple daily life of these people out here in the wilderness.
Finally after another one hour walking you arrive at Baan Pang Dang, one of the rare Palong hill tribe villages in Northern Thailand. Take a short break here.
Then the pick up truck will transfer you back to the hotel in Chiang Mai and you arrive there early in the evening.
