Elephant Farm, Trek & Rafting #CNX-922
Definitely a day tour with varied kind of activities. First, spend half a day with elephants at the small camp at Muang Kud. An ideal place to observe and learn how these giants live. Also do harvest elephant food from organic gardens such as mower grasses, bananas, and sugar cane. This day trip is rounded off with a short trek through the wilderness and some river rafting on the Mae Taeng River.
Available as a private tour, minimum 2 persons, daily from/to Chiang Mai
Pick up from the hotel in Chiang Mai by our local tour guide and driver will be at time 08.30. You will travel in northern direction for a bit more than one hour until you reach Muang Kud, the location of the small elephant camp.
Upon arrival, you will meet with the Elephants. Here you can feed them with organic food from the village’s eco farm. Spend time to observing and interacting with the Elephants, learning about their habitat, behavior etc. You will be hand-on to make a local traditional medicine, mix from natural herbs for their health. Then it’s time to let the Elephant down to the river, you can bath and scrubbing them in the river by using native plants. Lunch at the village.
After your lunch break continue to the starting point of the short trekking tour. Hike for 1 hour to a waterfall, where you have the chance for swimming and relaxing. Then walk to the rafting camp.
Here start for some rafting (approx. 40 minutes) on the Mae Tang River (either by inflatable boat or bamboo raft, depend on the water level).
Late afternoon it is time for your transfer back to the hotel in Chiang Mai.
