Tour around Chiang Mai #CNX-919
This day tour gets the focus on major highlights and sights outside of the northern capital. Leave the city behind and relax while cruising on a boat of the Ping River. Enjoy the river scene, old teak houses and rural greenery. Other attractions like a hilltop temple, the ruins of a former Mon city, some sights and attractions of the Mae Sa Valley are included, too.

Pick up from the hotel in Chiang Mai by our tour guide and driver is at time 08.30 and you will leave the city behind. A bit south of downtown on a small hill top you will first visit Wat Doi Kham. The large panoramic terrace offers a great view of the Royal Rajapruek Park, as well as the city of Chiang Mai and the countryside around.
A little bit later you take a brief stop at the ruins and temples of the former Mon city Wiang Kum Kam from the 12th century. An OPTIONAL short ride in a horse-drawn carriage can still be booked on site.
Then continue to the boat pier at Wat Chai Mongkol. Here you will board a longtail boat. Relax for a while, carried along the waters of the Ping River and leave the city behind you. Enjoy the river scenery with teakwood houses and rural greenery. Finally arrive at the local farmer’s house, where you enjoy Khao Soy (a traditional Northern Thai noodle dish) for lunch.
After your lunch break drive to the Mae Sa Valley, which is located about 15 km north of the city. Here heading first to the Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden, which is primarily used for the preservation and research of Thai flora. A relatively new attraction here is a 400-metre-long treetop path, where you can take a walk and see some trees from above.
From here a side trip to a Hmong hill tribe village can be arranged, if you wish to do so. OPTIONAL is also a visit to the Mae Sa Elephant Camp possible, where can feed the elephant (no show and no riding).
On route back to Chiang Mai City take a brief visit at an orchid farm in Mae Rim. In the late afternoon you will be back at the hotel.
