DAY 1 CHIANG MAI
Arrival in Chiang Mai. Our driver will welcome you, followed by transfer to the hotel in the city center. Day at leisure and you got the chance to explore the northern capital by your own for some first impressions or just relax at the nice boutique hotel.
DAY 2 CHIANG MAI B/L
After breakfast you will be picked up from the hotel by our local tour guide and driver. Today you spend most of the day in the city itself. First of all, it is about the old town surrounded by a moat with its countless historical temples, of which we of course visit some of them (but only those and as much as you wish, the tour guide will discuss it with you!) Then follows the drive up to the Suthep mountain temple, a kind of landmark of the city. The temple complex is located at just over 1000 meters altitude and in clear weather you have a great view of the city. Back in the center of the city on the banks of the Ping River, walk through the Warorot Market (the most important fresh market for the locals here) and the neighboring Ton Lanyai Market with its fragrant flowers, vegetables and some exotic fruits. Last but not least, you will have the opportunity to visit some of the well-known handicraft workshops in Bosang. This includes first and foremost the well-known umbrella painters, as well as the silver processing, lacquerware production, wood carvings etc. (only what you are interested and discuss it with your tour guide!). Then it is time to return to the hotel.
DAY 3 CHIANG MAI B/L
In the morning, head first to the ruins and temples of Wiang Kum Kam (a former Mon city from the 12th century) just outside the city. Here an OPTIONAL ride with a horse-drawn carriage can be booked on site. Afterwards drive to the boat pier at Wat Chai Mongkol and enjoy a boat trip upriver on the Ping River for about 45 minutes until you reach a small local farm. Chance to stretch your feet and go for a stroll around. Then drive to the Mae Sa Valley, located north of the city. Here you will spend also your lunch break. Next you are heading to the Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden, which is primarily used for the preservation and research of Thai flora. A relatively new attraction here is a 400-metre-long treetop path, where you can take a walk and see some trees from above. From here a side trip to a Hmong hill tribe village can be arranged, if you wish to do so. OPTIONAL is also a visit to the Mae Sa Elephant Camp possible, where you can feed the elephants (no show and no riding). On route back to downtown Chiang Mai take a short stop at an orchid farm in Mae Rim. You will be back at the hotel by late afternoon. There is time left for shopping or relaxing in the dignified boutique hotel. Our tour guide and driver are at your disposal in any case.
