A guided day tour to the neighboring provinces of Lamphun and Lampang Located just 25 km from downtown Chiang Mai, Lamphun is a small town with unique cultural heritages with golden temples & pagodas. A bit further south, Lampang the 3rd largest city in the north got its own uniqueness, which comprises local architecture, temples, horse-drawn carriages and pristine natural attractions. On this tour experience among other things Lanna culture, an unique bustling local countryside market and the famous Elephant Conservation Center & Hospital.

In the morning at time 08.00 you will be picked up from the hotel in Chiang Mai by our local tour guide and driver. Your first stop is in Hang Chat, where you visit the Thai Elephant Conservation Center. It is also home the now world-famous Elephant Hospital, which takes care of sick and injured elephants, which are brought here from large parts of the country.
Adterwards take a look at the ancient temple Wat Phra That Lampang Luang. It is one of the most revered temples in Northern Thailand and is also considered one of the most perfect wooden temples in with exquisite old Lanna architecture. An OPTIONAL short ride on a horse-drawn carriage around the large temple grounds can still be booked here on site.
Then heading to the Ratsadapisek Bridge in the center of Lampang City, our starting point for the walking tour through the charming old part of the town.
Then it's time for the lunch break.
Definitely also worth a visit is Wat Sri Chum in the city center itself, a Burmese temple with beautiful Burmese art inside, including a golden Mon-style pagoda.
On a quaint, rural local market you can take a stroll to watch the hustle and bustle.
Last stop will be in Lamphun, a small, idyllic and tranquil town, where Wat Haripunchai with its approximately 50 meters high, gilded chedi is certainly the main attraction.
After another half hour of driving on the "Old Rubber Tree Road", an avenue of huge rubber trees, you will reach Chiang Mai in the late afternoon and transferred to the hotel.
REMARKS/FLEXIBILITY:
Instead to travel both ways on the road it is also possible to take a train ride for one way. The train ride to Lampang takes about an hour and a half and is one of the most scenic in Thailand. You will pass beautiful landscapes with mountain wilderness, green rice fields and idyllic villages.
