DAY 1 LUANG PRABANG
Arrival in Luang Prabang, where a representative of our local partner agency will wait and welcome you. Transfer to the hotel. Time at leisure in this former royal town on the banks of the Mekong- and Khan River. In the evening why not take a stroll to explore Luang Prabang's little, but colorful night market. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
DAY 2 LUANG PRABANG B
After breakfast pick up from the hotel. First take a sightseeing tour in Luang Prabang, which is an UNESCO world heritage site since 1995. See some of the ancient temples, such as Wat Xiengthong and Wat Aham, but also the former Royal Palace, which is today's National Museum. Go on to visit Ban Xang Khong, a well known village for it's wood paper making and Lao silk weaving. After lunch enjoy a boat trip upstream on the Mekong River until you reach the junction of the Ou River. Here at Pak Ou you will visit the holy Thum Ting Cave with it's numerous Buddha statues. Then drive back to the hotel. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
DAY 3 LUANG PRABANG B
In the morning first drive for approx. 20 minutes by car, followed by another 10 minutes with a longtail boat on the Khan River to the picturesque Tadse Waterfall. At the small elephant camp nearby you got the chance to feed these gentle giants. On route back to Luang Prabang have brief stops at a Hmong hill tribe village, but also at a local market, where you can observe the daily busy trading of vegetables, fruits and all kind of other goods. The whole afternoon you got free at leisure. So you can relax or explore Luang Prabang by your own. Maybe you still have some energy left and take a walk up to Phousi Hill. It's 328 steps! But worth the effort once you will enjoy the great views from the hill top. Spend another night in Luang Prabang.
DAY 4 LUANG PRABANG B
Day at leisure until your transfer to the airport...or extend your stay in Luang Prabang, depend on your further schedule.
REMARKS/FLEXIBILITY:
- Visa for Laos available on arrival in Luang Prabang against a fee of US$ 40.- (bring a passport pictures with you!).
- During the dry season (January to June) there is just not enough water or even no water at Tadse Waterfall. So during that period the itinerary will be changed and you will visit Kuangsi Waterfall instead.
- Additional nights in Luang Prabang can be booked with us.
