Trekking in Mae Wang

Chiang Mai - Mae Wang Valley - Karen Village - Hiking - Bamboo Rafting - Chiang Mai

DAY 1 CHIANG MAI - KAREN HILL TRIBE VILLAGE L/D
In the morning at approx. time 09.30 our local tour guide will be picked up from the hotel in Chiang Mai. Drive by Pick Up Truck for about one hour to the Mae Wang Valley, which is located to the south-west of downtown Chiang Mai. On route take brief stop at a local countryside market. Chance to buy some snacks, fruits drinks etc. for your trek. Then reach a small elephant camp. Enjoy some time with these gentle giants and you also have the opportunity to feed them (no riding!). Have lunch at a local restaurant before hiking for about one hour to a small waterfall and enjoy a cool bath. Go on with your trek for approx..1,5 hours until you reach a Karen hill tribe village and spend the night here.
DAY 2 KAREN HILL TRIBE VILLAGE - CHIANG MAI B/L
Before breakfast you have time for a stroll around the village to learn more about the daily simple life here in the wilderness. Then continue trekking and about 2,5 hours later you will reach the village of Mae Sapok. Time for your lunch at a local restaurant. A short transfer will bring you to the Mae Wang River. Have fun with bamboo rafting down the small river (it can get a bit wet sometimes!). Afterwards it is already time again for your transfer back to Chiang Mai and you will be back at your booked hotel by late afternoon.
REMARKS:
- A small rucksack and a water canteen can be provided (if you need it, please let us know at the time of booking).
- During the cool season (Nov. to Feb.) we do recommend to bring a long sleeves sweater or a jacket. A mosquito repellent and a torch can be very useful as well. Otherwise light clothes and good walking shoes are recommended to wear during the trek.
- Accommodation in Chiang Mai before and/or after the tour can be booked with us as well.
PRICE INCLUDES:
All excursions as mentioned in the itinerary above, all transfers with a pick up truck, accommodation is very basic in a simple hut (with outside toilet) of bamboo and wood at a Karen hill tribe village and will consist of a thin mattress with a sleeping bag or blankets. English speaking tour guide, all meals as shown in the itinerary (B = breakfast, L = lunch and D = dinner)
